Thalbow
Thalbow ist the new venture of trumpeter Thalstroem and pianist Grambow. With vintage keyboards, trumpets and quite a bit of digital finesse, their new electronic live set is not only wonderfully atmospheric but also highly impulsive.
Grambow, producer and keyboarder of the electronic band LAN as well as co-founder of the label SugarCandyMountain, provides warm, vibrating harmonies and dreamy synthesizer sounds. Thalstroem, best known for his participation in the AKA AKA live sets, creates energetic beats and supplements them with delicate and longing trumpet sounds.
Thalstroem and Grambow first met in 2001 in Amsterdam, where both studied Jazz at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam. Through a collaboration with the DJ-Collective WIckedJazzSounds (NL) they soon discovered their interest in combining live instruments with electronic music. In 2005 Thalstroem and Grambow moved to Berlin and founded the electronic band LAN. Several releases on SugarCandyMountain followed. In 2009 Thalstroem became part of the AKA AKA live formation and co-wrote/co-produced their album „AKA AKA and Thalstroem – Varieté“ which was released on Burlesque Musique in 2011. Together with them, he also released remixes on Defintion Records, Natura Viva, and Jackmode, just to name a few.
Thalstroem and Grambow are currently working on their Thalbow debut. Look out for their first release in spring 2012!
